故事缘起于3年前Nova Cinema 组织的一个中国独立电影展。在电影放映的同时,策划者们安排了一场默片现场配乐的演出。小河和宋雨哲作为中国乐手,以“两个大人”的组合被邀请,他们因此与那些比利时的乐手们相遇,并同台为中国电影史上的不朽之作《神女》伴奏--那真是一个令人销魂的夜晚!观众屏息静气,完全被30年代上海滩一个女性的命运吸引!放映/演出结束之后,人们久久不愿离去,他们开始在影院下面的酒吧里跳舞,以延续那种唯有音乐才能带来的幸福——一直到天亮! 今天,这些比利时的乐手们,有“金手指”之称的键盘手埃瑞克 (Eric Bribosia),“魅惑”之长笛手冈当•曼夫华(Quentin Manfroy),以及比利时-古巴的人气打击乐手雅尼克•杜邦(Yannick Dupont),连同另一位越南裔的比利时天才乐手马哈哈(Matthieu Ha) 受DOC.be-比利时当代纪录电影展项目的邀请,来到北京。 9月10日,他们将为DOC.be的开幕,在草场地工作站为一组与布鲁塞尔建筑及中产阶级化有关的影像做现场配乐演出,其中包括58年布鲁塞尔世博会的影像档案!9月12日,他们将和“两个大人”重聚愚公移山的舞台,重演当年的一幕:为《神女》做现场配乐!把它献给爱电影也爱音乐的中国观众!

The story begins in 2005 when Matthieu Ha (ufo vocalist and accordionist) and his band « les iiiistes » went on an Asian Tour, which included performances in several major Chinese cities, in Beijing they even played in the old Yugongyishan on Gongti! At the time they met two important figures in the Beijing music scene, Xiao He and Song Yuzhe. Musicians are often men of few words and their music said all they needed to say.
In 2007 Nova Cinéma organised an independent film event in Brussels focusing on China. At that time two musicians evoluating in the iiiiiste galaxy, the Keyboard Eric « Golden Fingers » Bribosia and the « Enchanted » flutiste Quentin Manfroy began to replay old silent films, reviving the tradition of accompanying films with live music. The decision was taken to invite the two big men Xiao He and Song Yuzhe to Brussels and organise a live soundtrack on the old Chinese silent film, « The Goddess », which takes us back to Shanghai in the 1930s. They played with Bribosia and Manfroy and were joined by the very popular Belgo-cuban percussionist, Yannick Dupont (Delpuente). The concert was a tremendous success in what was an unforgettable evening. Not wanting to leave after the concert was over, everyone began to dance the night away, enjoying the sort of joyous atmosphere that only music can bring.
This year, in the context of the DOC.be project, we have the opportunity to put the Live Soundtrack experience back on track. Not to be missed, the first concert will take place on 10th September in CCD Workstation in Caochangdi, for the opening of DOC.be.
Chinese and Belgian musicians will perform a live soundtrack on a collection of archive images centered on the architecture/gentrification of the city of Brussels starting back in 1958 when the capital hosted the World Expo. There will also be images from "Atomium IN/OUT" by photographer Marie-Françoise Plissart about the renewal of the Atomium in 2000 and a film by Yves Bernard about the destruction of the Martini tower.
The second concert will take place at Yu Gong Yi Shan on September 12, where the musicians, three years after their concert in Brussels, will, again, perform a live soundtrack on « The Goddess » for the pleasure of Chinese ears!

Once Kolwezi was a thriving town in Congo. Nowadays people risk their lives in search of cobalt. So does Isaac who needs the money in order to go to university. The mine represents a daily fight for survival in a country where mineral wealth has more value than human life. The young director filmed this story in a bittersweet undertone, playing with fictional and documentary codes.

It is now in the line of fire of the promoters, and the 80,000 people living there are facing drastic changes. The film follows the rapidly changing life in the neighborhood for more than one year and a half, drawing its portrait and recording a memory of disappearing reality.

Travel back in time to 1930’s Shanghai. The first film anywhere in the world to deal with prostitution without equating it to moral degradation, this debut film by socially conscious director Wu Yonggang opened to rave reviews and adoring audiences. It is also the penultimate film by Shanghai silent film's biggest star Ruan Lingyu, before she tragically committed suicide at the age of 24, following a messy divorce that was splashed across the tabloid press.

Instead of fighting against poverty, we fight against the poor. In Europe, rich areas are surrounded by poor suburbs where “zero tolerance” is becoming widespread. The poor in general and the young immigrants in particular are the subjects of all fears. Far away from the concept of European democracy where everyone would have their chance, the film critically and emotionally depicts a society that is often sordid and violent.
